چکیده

Abstract Small GTPases of the Rab family play important roles in membrane trafficking and autophagy. Previous studies have shown that small GTPase Sec4 is involved vegetative growth, protein secretion, pathogenicity fungal phytopathogens. In this study, BcSec4, an ortholog yeast Sec4p protein, was characterized Botrytis cinerea . The ΔBcSEC4 mutant produces many abnormal conidiophores; it thus defective conidiation displays attenuated pathogenicity. Notably, germination penetration conidia are unaffected mutant. Further showed secretion extracellular proteins altered mutant, impaired autophagy defects integrity. Taken together, these results suggest BcSec4 critical for conidiophore development, integrity, pathogenicity,

Ethylene biosynthesis in Botrytis cinerea.

Ethylene is often released during plant pathogenesis. Enhanced ethylene biosynthesis by the attacked plant, and formation of ethylene by the attacking pathogen may be involved. We defined the biosynthetic pathway of ethylene in the pathogenic fungus Botrytis cinerea, and characterized the conditions that affect ethylene production in vitro. During the first 48 h of culture the fungus uses methi...

BcMtg2 is required for multiple stress tolerance, vegetative development and virulence in Botrytis cinerea

In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the Mtg2 gene encodes the Obg protein, which has an important function in assembling ribosomal subunits. However, little is known about the role of the Obg GTPase in filamentous fungi. In this study, we identified an Mtg2 ortholog, BcMtg2, in B. cinerea. The BcMtg2 deletion mutant showed a defect in spore production, conidial germination and sclerotial formation. Ad...

Anilinopyrimidine Resistance in Botrytis cinerea Is Linked to Mitochondrial Function

Crop protection anilinopyrimidine (AP) fungicides were introduced more than 20 years ago for the control of a range of diseases caused by ascomycete plant pathogens, and in particular for the control of gray mold caused by Botrytis cinerea. Although early mode of action studies suggested an inhibition of methionine biosynthesis, the molecular target of this class of fungicides was never fully c...

Histone H3 Lysine 9 Methyltransferase DIM5 Is Required for the Development and Virulence of Botrytis cinerea

Histone methylation is widely present in animals, plants and fungi, and the methylation modification of histone H3 has important biological functions. Methylation of Lys9 of histone H3 (H3K9) has been proven to regulate chromatin structure, gene silencing, transcriptional activation, plant metabolism, and other processes. In this work, we investigated the functions of a H3K9 methyltransferase g...
